Lia Steinberg is a multimedia journalist and weather anchor who embraces all forms of storytelling and can work in the digital age to reach viewers on multiple platforms.

 

Lia has traveled across the country exposing immigration issues and the impact California's drought has on farmers, the agrigcultural industry and economy. Lia's work has appeared on several news outlets like CNN, ABC News, CNN.com, KGTV in San Diego and KNXV in Phoenix. She interviewed House Speaker John Boehner, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and California Gov. Jerry Brown on the drought conditions and effects it has on the country. She's not afraid to ask tough questions, shoot and edit video on location, and go live in the field under a strict deadline.

 

Currently, she works at 23ABC News in Bakersfield, CA as an MMJ and weather anchor. She joined Kern County's first weekend morning news broadcast that launched in September 2013. The broadcast is currently the market's highest rated weekend newscast and continues to grow significantly in the ratings. With her experience as a weather anchor, she has found a passion in telling a compelling weather story using obversation, research and ad-libbing vital information to viewers on California's diverse climate.

 

Lia graduated in 2012 from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where she earned her B.A. in broadcast journalism. During her time at ASU, she landed competitve internships at KNXV and Know99 Television in Phoenix, and KGTV in San Diego. She also reported and forecasted at Cronkite NewsWatch, a live, 30-minute broadcast on PBS that reached over 1.2 million homes in Arizona. It was rated the best college television newscast by SPJ in 2012.

 

Originally from the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix, Ariz., Lia enjoys traveling, spending time with family and exploring new hiking trails and biking outdoors.
